Welcome to my new blog, KiKi’s Corner!
I’m a mom, wife, nurse and now a M.I.L.F – Mom In Love with Fitness! In the past, working out was a foreign concept to me – “Workout, what for?! I’m not overweight!” is what I said until I was overweight. I guess the fact that my underwear was getting too small didn’t give me a hint. I was stress eating to deal with depression and anxiety. At my heaviest, I was 190 pounds and didn’t really do anything about it. I went to the gym, but not consistently – maybe twice a month, or maybe not at all. It just wasn’t a priority to me.
Sweet baby Jesus, I was a mess. But it wasn’t until I went for my physical and got two shockers that I really woke up: I had high blood pressure was told I was pre-diabetic. Oh, hell no I’m not taking medications and pricking my fingers! That’s when I made the decision that I was going to improve my health. I began eating much better and working out on a consistent basis. Once I did these two things, my weight dropped pretty quickly and my blood pressure went back to normal.
The best part of all of this? I’m no longer depressed and my anxiety is more controlled. I’m still pre-diabetic, but I continue to work on that. Overall, I feel the best I ever have, all because I finally made my health a priority.
If I can do it, you can, too!
